Speaker: Eric Peterson
About Erik:
Erik Skat Petersen was a highly regarded master stone mason and architect who built and designed many prominent buildings in Ontario in the early part of the 20th century. They include the beautiful Presbyterian Church that rises from the Moon River falls at Bala, a stone school in Pine Springs, now owned by the University of Toronto, and Rosseau Community Hall, as well as many cottages and homes in Muskoka, Algonquin Park, Lake of Bays, Lake Erie, Toronto and Beaverton.
He immigrated to Canada from Denmark around 1908 in his early thirties and after a time in Toronto he moved to Beaverton where he built a beautiful stone house for his family. It still stands today as 510 North Street, Beaverton. Our speaker on Sunday Oct 28th at is his Grandson Eric Skat Petersen who will share his memories of his highly talented Grandfather and present some his drawings and blueprints that are so admired by other master stone masons.
I hope you can join us to learn more about this very local history story.
