GENERAL MEETING– November 25th, 2018 2:00 – 4:00 pm
The Meeting Place – 284 Simcoe Street
On Nov 25th David Town is returning to our General Meeting to share his research on two infamous brawls in our local history – the Brechin Riot and the Orillia Riot.
Did you know that in the summer of 1942 a group of Orillia soldiers headed to the bar in Brechin and ended up in a brawl with the whole town? A few heroic OPP officers had to suppress the riot.
Or, that in Orillia in 1844 alcohol, gambling and a sailboat race lead to a vicious brawl involving 500 men. The riot took many hours and dedicated constables to eventually settle things down.
Join us on Nov 25th to hear all the details from local historian David Town.
